Get to know more about Barbie Nunn-Porter

After twenty years as an educator, sixteen of those in the Canadian High Arctic, Barbie joined Tradewinds Realty as Business Manager and Sales Associate in 2001. An Edgehill "Old Girl", Barbie is also a graduate of Dalhousie University (B.A., M.Ed.) and Acadia University (B.Ed.)A lifelong resident of Chester, Barbie has watched her little village grow. Having strolled the streets of the village since childhood, she brings extensive local knowledge to our Brokerage. One of Barbie's biggest thrills was in 2002 when Tradewinds Realty purchased the former Chester Pharmacy building on Pleasant Street that her father had built in the early 1960s. Tradewinds transformed the building once again to be one the village's "anchor" firms. In 2020, with Tradewinds Realty merging with Engel & Völkers, Barbie is pleased to be continuing her real estate career with Engel & Völkers, assisting her clients with all their real estate needs. Heritage homes are Barbie's passion. From the restoration of her Circa 1760 cape Wecob, built by one of the area's original American settlers, her Circa 1820 Greenlaw House and barn to Terrace Cottage circa 1880, Barbie gets tremendous joy and satisfaction from caring for these homes. Cavendish House, 1929, is another project that Barbie is proud of her involvement in restoring. Intrigued by local history, Barbie enjoys gatherings with family and friends, including island picnics! Barbie is an active Board member of Bonny Lea Farm and takes every opportunity to sing their praises for the wonderful work this organization does to offer a safe and supportive environment for adults with intellectual disabilities.
